Make AVIF images smaller. Every file stays AVIF, with the same dimensions.
AVIF is already one of the smallest image formats. Compress it here and you get a lighter AVIF back that looks the same, ready for your site or app.

We remove detail you can't see, such as unused colors and hidden metadata. The image looks the same and the file is much smaller.
Web Free takes 20 images per session without an account. Web Pro and Web Ultra have no image limit.
Designers, developers, marketers and many more: millions of people use TinyPNG. Together they've shrunk over 9 billion images.
Add AVIF images up to 5 MB each.
Each image comes back as AVIF, usually within seconds.
Save them one by one, or all at once as a ZIP.
TinyPNG removes what your eyes can’t see and keeps what they can. Your AVIF image looks the same and weighs a lot less.

Colors we keep
A photo can hold millions of colors. We merge the ones your eye can’t tell apart, so the file needs fewer bytes to store them.
Every image gets its own settings. Flat graphics and busy photos are compressed in different ways.
Camera data and other metadata you don’t need are removed. Your pixels and dimensions stay exactly the same.
More tools for lighter images, from quick web tools to an API for your own code.
Convert images
Turn any image into PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF or JPEG XL, compressed in the same step.
Community plugins
Compress with TinyPNG using community plugins for your platform, build tools or framework.
Analyze your website
Find the heavy images on any page and see what you could save.
For developers
Compress AVIF images in your build pipeline, CMS or app with the Tinify API. The first 500 compressions every month are free.

It depends on the file. AVIF is already an efficient format, so the saving is smaller than for a JPEG or PNG.
Yes. Every file comes back in its own format.
Than JPEG: JPG to AVIF is usually more than 70% smaller, measured on real images converted with TinyPNG. Than PNG: for photos, PNG to AVIF is usually more than 95% smaller, and both keep transparency. Than WebP: AVIF is often smaller for photos, but WebP is accepted in more places; Shopify, for example, takes WebP uploads and not AVIF. JPEG and PNG still open everywhere, while AVIF fails in some shops, design tools, older Windows apps and email.
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (from 16.4), about 96% of browsers in use. Outside the browser, Windows Photos and Office need the free AV1 Video Extension, and Gmail turns AVIF into JPEG.
Yes, like PNG and WebP. Converting AVIF to JPG fills transparent areas with white, and we ask first.
AVIF can be lossy or lossless; most AVIF photos are lossy. We save AVIF lossy.
Both make small photos. AVIF is royalty-free and opens in about 96% of browsers; HEIC opens only in Safari. HEIC is what iPhones save by default.
AV1 Image File Format: it stores still images with the AV1 video codec.
The format can animate, but we don't handle animated AVIF files yet. Animated PNG is the one animated format we support.
An AVIF is a still image stored with the AV1 video codec, a royalty-free format from the Alliance for Open Media. Websites and image CDNs often serve it because it is small, so it is often what you get when you save an image from a site.
Yes. Web Free compresses 20 images per session, up to 5 MB each, without an account. Web Pro and Web Ultra raise the limits.
Yes. We store your images encrypted, download links expire after 8 hours, and we delete your images from our servers within 48 hours.
We remove all metadata, such as camera details, GPS location and editing history, to keep files small. Want to keep metadata? Use the developer API: it can keep the copyright, creation date and location.
Convert to the format you need, or keep the one you have and just make it smaller.
