PNG stores every pixel exactly, so graphics, screenshots and scans make large files. JPEG XL keeps transparency, and a PNG usually comes out more than 90% smaller. Support is new: Chrome and Firefox turned it on in October 2026, Edge hasn't yet.

We remove detail you can't see, such as unused colors and hidden metadata. The image looks the same and the file is much smaller.
Web Free converts 3 images per session without an account. Web Ultra has no conversion limit.
Designers, developers, marketers and many more: millions of people use TinyPNG. Together they've shrunk over 9 billion images.
Add PNG images up to 5 MB each.
Each image comes back as JPEG XL, usually within seconds.
Save them one by one, or all at once as a ZIP.
The same photo before and after TinyPNG, 1096 × 639 pixels on both sides. Move across the image to compare.
PNG opens in every app and upload form. JPEG XL is much smaller and suits archives of screenshots, scans and artwork. Edge doesn't open it yet, so use PNG where the file has to open everywhere.

Yes. Transparent areas in your PNG stay transparent.
Not yet. WordPress blocks JPEG XL uploads, and we found no email client that shows it. Keep a PNG for those.
Usually more than 90% smaller than the PNG you upload, measured on real images converted with TinyPNG. Images that were already compressed save less.
Yes. Use the swap button, or go to JXL to PNG. Detail removed by compression doesn't come back.
Yes. A PNG stores every pixel exactly, which is also why the files are large. Our compressor applies lossy compression by reducing the colours, so its result looks the same rather than being pixel-identical.
Chrome (from 155) and Firefox (from 158) turned it on in October 2026, and Safari has shown JPEG XL stills since version 17. Edge, Opera and Samsung Internet don't open it yet. Check current support on caniuse.com.
The format does both, and a JPEG can be repacked into a smaller lossless JPEG XL that turns back into the exact original. We save JPEG XL lossy, or lossless when that comes out smaller.
Windows 11 24H2 opens it after you install the free JPEG XL Image Extension from the Microsoft Store; Windows 10 needs a third-party plugin.
Add your PNGs above, choose JPEG XL and download the result. It works in your browser on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android, with nothing to install.
A PNG is an image file in the Portable Network Graphics format. It keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparency, so screenshots, logos and cut-outs are usually saved as PNG. Most computers and phones save screenshots as PNG.
Yes. Web Free converts 3 images per session, up to 5 MB each, without an account. Web Pro takes bigger files, and Web Ultra converts as many as you like.
Yes. We store your images encrypted, download links expire after 8 hours, and we delete your images from our servers within 48 hours.
We remove all metadata, such as camera details, GPS location and editing history, to keep files small. Want to keep metadata? Use the developer API: it can keep the copyright, creation date and location.
Convert to the format you need, or keep the one you have and just make it smaller.
