Turn JPG images into AVIF files. We compress every file as we convert it.
3 free JPG to AVIF conversions per session, max 5 MB eachOr click to browse. 3 free JPG to AVIF conversions per session, max 5 MB each
AVIF is the most efficient image format most browsers can show today, and it does best on photos. A lighter hero image or product photo loads faster on every visit. Upload a JPG and you get a much smaller AVIF back.

We remove detail you can't see, such as unused colors and hidden metadata. The image looks the same and the file is much smaller.
Web Free converts 3 images per session without an account. Web Ultra has no conversion limit.
Designers, developers, marketers and many more: millions of people use TinyPNG. Together they've shrunk over 9 billion images.
Add JPG images up to 5 MB each.
Each image comes back as AVIF, usually within seconds.
Save them one by one, or all at once as a ZIP.
The same photo before and after TinyPNG, 1096 × 639 pixels on both sides. Move across the image to compare.
AVIF makes the smallest photos of the common web formats, and Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all show it. Outside the browser support is thinner: some design tools, e-commerce platforms and email clients don't take AVIF yet. Use AVIF on your website and keep a JPG for everything else.

Usually more than 70% smaller than the JPG you upload, measured on real images converted with TinyPNG. How much depends on the image: photos, flat graphics and screenshots each shrink differently, and images that were already compressed save less.
For photos it is usually smaller. WebP works in a few more places outside the browser. If you are unsure, use Smallest format and we try both.
On websites: every current major browser shows it. Some apps, e-commerce platforms, design tools and email clients still don't accept it, so keep a JPG for those.
The JPG was already compressed and AVIF compresses again, so a little detail goes. At normal viewing sizes it is hard to spot.
Yes. Use the swap button, or go to AVIF to JPG. Detail removed by compression doesn't come back.
JPG for photos: much smaller, and it opens everywhere. PNG for logos, screenshots and cut-outs: it keeps every pixel and supports transparency. A photo saved as PNG is several times bigger than it needs to be, while flat graphics or art may be much smaller and higher quality with PNG.
Yes. They are the same format; only the file extension differs. Old Windows only allowed three letters for the file extension, so JPEG became .jpg. Renaming one to the other changes nothing about the file, so converting to JPEG is the same as converting to JPG, and a .jpeg file converts and compresses like a .jpg.
JPG to AVIF is usually more than 70% smaller, measured on real images converted with TinyPNG. JPG and PNG still open everywhere, while AVIF fails in some e-commerce platforms, design tools, older Windows apps and email.
Add your JPGs above, choose AVIF and download the result. This JPG to AVIF converter works in your browser on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android, with nothing to install.
A JPG file is a photo saved in the JPEG format, named after the Joint Photographic Experts Group. JPG files are always lossy: they keep photos small by dropping detail the eye barely notices. They have no transparency. Cameras, phones, websites and email all use it, and every browser, app and email client opens it.
Yes. Web Free converts 3 images per session, up to 5 MB each, without an account. Once you log in, Web Pro converts 3 images per session, up to 75 MB each, and Web Ultra converts as many as you like, up to 150 MB each. On every plan, an image can have up to 256 megapixels.
Yes. We store your images encrypted, download links expire after 8 hours, and we delete them automatically after 24 hours.
Yes. To keep files small we remove all metadata: EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location, and XMP data such as copyright and editing history. Colour profiles are converted to sRGB, the standard for screens and the web. The developer API can keep the copyright, creation date and location.
Convert to the format you need, or keep the one you have and just make it smaller.
