Make AVIF images smaller. Every file stays AVIF, with the same dimensions.
AVIF is already one of the smallest image formats. Run it through our AVIF compressor and you get a lighter AVIF back that looks the same, ready for your site or app.

We remove detail you can't see, such as unused colors and hidden metadata. The image looks the same and the file is much smaller.
Web Free takes 20 images per session without an account. Web Pro and Web Ultra have no image limit.
Designers, developers, marketers and many more: millions of people use TinyPNG. Together they've shrunk over 9 billion images.
Add AVIF images up to 5 MB each.
Each image comes back as AVIF, usually within seconds.
Save them one by one, or all at once as a ZIP.
TinyPNG removes what your eyes can’t see and keeps what they can. Your AVIF image looks the same and weighs a lot less.

Colors we keep
A photo can hold millions of colors. We merge the ones your eye can’t tell apart, so the file needs fewer bytes to store them.
Every image gets its own settings. Flat graphics and busy photos are compressed in different ways.
Camera data and other metadata you don’t need are removed. Your pixels and dimensions stay exactly the same.

It depends on the image: photos, flat graphics and screenshots each shrink differently. AVIF is already an efficient format, so the saving is smaller than for a JPG or PNG.
Yes. Every file comes back in its own format.
Than JPG: JPG to AVIF is usually more than 70% smaller, measured on real images converted with TinyPNG. Than PNG: for photos, PNG to AVIF is usually more than 95% smaller, and both keep transparency. Than WebP: AVIF is often smaller for photos, but WebP is accepted in more places. JPG and PNG still open everywhere, while AVIF fails in some e-commerce platforms, design tools, older Windows apps and email.
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (from 16.4), about 96% of browsers in use. Outside the browser, Windows Photos and Office need the free AV1 Video Extension, and Gmail turns AVIF into JPG.
Yes, like PNG and WebP. Converting AVIF to JPG fills transparent areas with white, and we ask first.
AVIF can be lossy or lossless; most AVIF photos are lossy. We save AVIF lossy.
Both store photos in a HEIF container: AVIF with AV1 images, HEIC with HEVC images. Both make small photos. AVIF is royalty-free and opens in about 96% of browsers; HEIC opens only in Safari. HEIC is what iPhones save by default.
AV1 Image File Format: it stores still images with the AV1 video codec.
The format can animate, but we don't handle animated AVIF files yet. Animated PNG is the one animated format we support.
An AVIF is a still image compressed with the AV1 video codec, a royalty-free format from the Alliance for Open Media, and stored in a HEIF container, like HEIC. It can be lossy or lossless, though most AVIF photos are lossy. Websites and image CDNs often serve it because it is small, so it is often what you get when you save an image from a site.
Yes. Web Free compresses 20 images per session, up to 5 MB each, without an account. Once you log in, Web Pro and Web Ultra compress as many images as you like: up to 75 MB each on Web Pro, and up to 150 MB each on Web Ultra. On every plan, an image can have up to 256 megapixels.
Yes. We store your images encrypted, download links expire after 8 hours, and we delete them automatically after 24 hours.
Yes. To keep files small we remove all metadata: EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location, and XMP data such as copyright and editing history. Colour profiles are converted to sRGB, the standard for screens and the web. The developer API can keep the copyright, creation date and location.
Convert to the format you need, or keep the one you have and just make it smaller.
